The concept of a 'virtual gastric band' for weight loss, using hypnosis, has been around for couple of years and has generated a lot of positive press from the global media.
You probably know that applying a gastric band is a type of weight loss surgery. The capacity of the stomach is reduced using an adjustable band so that only small meals can be eaten. The operation is usually effective but it is a major and quite complex procedure that often has side effects.
Sheila Granger, a UK based Hypnotherapist, (Click here to visit her website) developed the Virtual Gastric Band technique and in its first trial with 21 volunteers - of all shapes and sizes, age ranges and genders - the results were outstanding with 20 of the 21 participants losing a total of almost 90Kgs between them in only three weeks.
A virtual gastric band is applied under hypnosis, with no invasive surgery. The subconscious believes the stomach is smaller and the mind doesn’t allow a person to over-eat. There is no diet, instead simple rules to reduce portion sizes, motivation to exercise and a supporting hypnotherapy CD to listen each day
I trained with Sheila to learn the technique and it's really exciting to see my clients achieving their weight loss goals in a lasting way.
Not surprisingly, the Virtual Gastric Band programme has attracted substantial media attention. Click here to see the BBC report that is also available on my home page.
