Let’s face it, there are some people who have to manage their weight 24/7; and there are some people who just never give it a thought. Keeping a constant weight at about the right proportions just seems to come naturally to them.
And we all know that diets don’t work, right?
I’m sure you’ve heard that, “it’s in their genes” or, “That’s just the way some people are.”
Most people who follow a traditional dieting system will lose weight while they’re on the diet. But as soon as the diet stops, the weight invariably returns, often leaving them heavier than before they began the diet. As many as 95% of people who diet experience this cycle.
The problem is that dieting, both while we are on them and after we stop, makes us think more than ever about food. Diets are about denial. And sure you can do that for a while, but the very idea of restricting what we eat forever is enough to put most of us off. So, we give up.
Conscious self-denial of something can often make us want it more. When we deny ourselves the foods we love, especially our comfort foods, three things happen:
The brains fights against it;
The body fights against it; and
The day to day environment fights against it.
So, isn’t the real question here, “How is it that we’re different from those lucky people who never have to worry about their waistline?”
Not always, but almost always, the answer to that question, is that we have lived a different life to those people. We’ve had different experiences; we’ve laid down different memories, some of which we’ve forgotten, but they’re still there.
And our subconscious, which is always trying to protect us, has developed different strategies over the years to deal with those memories, some of which are remembered but many of whcih aren’t..
It’s those forgotten experiences and memories and the way our subconscious has learned to cope that is causing us to over eat.
That’s where my approach is different to most other weight loss strategies, because first, using hypnosis, I work with your subconscious to help it find other ways to protect you.
Once that has been accomplished it’s often not so difficult to develop new habits and then our weight problems soon become a thing of the past.
